Distinguishing CharacteristicsThe distinguishing characteristic of the Coordinator-IT License Mgmt is the management and negotiation of IT license agreements for the university. Positions provide consulting services to departments in licensing and related technical needs, including facilitating discussions between technical and non-technical users; negotiating with campus decision-makers; making final decision regarding purchases and awareness of legal implications of software installation/distribution.
Primary Position Responsibilities1. Assesses current & future needs of and expected use for software applications; prepares cost/benefit analyses and action plans for licensing agreements. 2. Negotiates and/or manages purchase of software licenses; evaluates product and licensing options and liaises funding and software distribution methods with schools, colleges, and departments. 3. Establishes and maintains internal and external relationships to act as OSU liaison with application and software vendors and oversee server-based distribution of licensed products for University. 4. Ensures compliance with software licensing counts and use/distribution restrictions. 5. Coordinates the software orders, invoice processing and generates reports to ensure proper allocation, costs and income. 6. Gathers software licensing metrics, and prepares software licensing reports to inform leadership decisions regarding IT software licensing across the university.

Typical RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. Experience managing enterprise software licenses. Experience engaging with vendors, negotiating pricing, and contracts.
