Money orders are available at a variety of places, including banks, grocery stores, and the post office.

Although they seem like a logical starting place, banks aren’t always the cheapest places to get a money order. Many grocery stores sell cheap money orders backed by Western Union or MoneyGram, and the post office is a reliable, affordable option.

Generally, you shouldn’t pay more than $2 for a money order.
