The essence of the Douglas Police Department mission is quality police service to the citizens of the Town of Douglas. Quality of service directly affects the quality of life in the Town of Douglas by ensuring the safety of the citizens and the protection of their property.

Mission

The Douglas Police Department mission entails the following:

1. To investigate, detect, apprehend, and bring before the judicial branch, those individuals who have violated the Massachusetts General laws.
2. To reduce fatalities, injuries, and damages to property through aggressive detection and apprehension of drunk drivers, strict enforcement of motor vehicle laws, and through public education designed to promote highway safety.
3. To give high priority to the strict enforcement of all domestic abuse statutes designed for the personal safety of the victims of family violence and abuse.
